Our client is large integrated FMCG organisation with a manufacturing base in Uganda feeding all Regional markets with various products. They are looking for a talented, sober, mature self-starter to fill this position.

Job Purpose: The main objective will be to ensure that the systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely. He/she will be essentially responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment which will be used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes of the organization.

Responsibilities
• Lead the design, selection, specification, commissioning, and implementation of automation equipment applicable to production as well as operations.
• Develop and update procedures, drawings, scopes of work, and general information regarding automation.
• Develop scope, schedule and budget for capital and upgrade projects related to instrument and controls projects.
• Design and develop new control systems.
• Maintain and modify existing systems.
• Troubleshooting and managing the technical operations.
• Ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards.

Requirements
• Degree in Engineering or a comparable degree.
• Must have minimum 10 yrs relevant experience
• Prior experience with filing systems and logic controls as well as industry standards ( e.g. PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems)
• Excellent supervisory and reporting skills are key
• Ready to work for long hours

• Oversee repairs and maintenance of equipment automatic, manual transmissions and electronic systems
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in the equipment.

• Ensure efficient use of procured parts to control costs & wastage
• Ensure proper record keeping of all the equipment & monitor usage.

Requirements
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Allocate work to Boiler Operators.
• Schedule preventive maintenance and service program of the boilers for execution by the Boiler Operators.
• Prepare operational reports on the status of boilers for submission to the Boiler Engineer and/ or discussion with the Facilities Engineer or Business Unit Managers.
• Supervise, guide and appraise performance of the Boiler Operators.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree/Diploma in Food/mechanical engineering

Minimum 5 years experience in food production.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

§ Sound understanding of food processing specially fruits and vegetable processing.

§ Sound knowledge of Food technology, flow line management, GMP and HACCP, Knowledge of maintenance and computer is must.

§ Full knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
